The Green Break Glass (Emergency Door Release) serves as the primary manual override for access-controlled doors. While exit buttons are used for daily operation, the break glass unit is reserved for life-safety situations. When the internal element is pressed or broken, it physically interrupts the power supply to the lock, ensuring the door remains open regardless of the status of the electronic controller. Its bright green color is the international standard for “Emergency Exit,” making it easily identifiable during a crisis.
Key Features
Fail-Safe Reliability: Provides a hardware-level power cut to the lock, acting as a secondary safety measure if the access control system malfunctions.
High-Visibility Design: The signal-green housing and high-contrast lettering ensure the device can be located quickly, even in low-visibility or smoke-filled environments.
Double-Pole Switching: Equipped with DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) contacts, allowing the unit to simultaneously release the lock and trigger a local alarm or monitoring system.
Resettable Element: Includes a flexible plastic element that mimics the action of breaking glass but can be reset with a specialized key, making it ideal for regular testing and fire drills.
Protective Flip Cover: Comes with a transparent hinged cover to prevent accidental activation in high-traffic hallways or schools.
